NFL Week 10
Winners and Losers
Winners
1. The Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys are now 8-1 and are leading the NFC East. This is mainly thanks to an almost unbelievable year by rookies Ezekiel Elliot and Dak Prescott. Elliot now has over 1,000 yards and 9 rushing touchdowns through his first 9 games… in the NFL. He is now the leading rusher in the NFL and believe it or not is at the top of many peoples MVP lists. The big touchdown in the last minute vs the Steelers could be a defining moment in his case for MVP. The 8 straight wins for the Cowboys will continue to give them momentum as they play the Ravens at home this upcoming Sunday.
2. Marcus Mariota
Marcus Mariota has been on the rise since halfway through October and that is why he is making my winners list for week 10. Since week 6 he has thrown for 14 touchdowns and rushed for 1, he has thrown for over 1,000 yards, and he has moved his team into 2nd in the AFC South and is putting them in a position for a potential playoff spot if they can figure out a way to win more. With a tough remaining 6 games, it will be interesting to see how Mariota handles himself.
3. The Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks beat the Patriots at home on primetime Sunday Night football. This is the biggest in for the team thus far. The team’s 2 loses (Rams and Saints) are the daggers in what is otherwise a pretty flawless season. The Seahawks are 1st in the NFC West and still have to play each team in their division one more time. After holding Tom Brady to 0 touchdowns, this week’s upcoming game, at home vs the Eagles, should not be too big of a test for the defense of Seattle and should be a stress-free win.
Losers
1. The Cleveland Browns
Let’s just face it, until the Browns somehow win a game they are going to be in my losers. They are the worst team in the NFL right now and they could probably get beat by most, if not all, top-25 college football teams. With a tough schedule remaining, I do not see them winning a game this season. #believeland
2. The Carolina Panthers
The Panthers blew a 17-0 lead. Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers went into halftime with a 17-3 lead over the Chiefs and ended up not scoring a single point in the entire second half and losing 20-17. But, “Don’t panic,” in the words of Cam Newton. The Panthers still have a slight shot at the playoffs, but they first have to make it through the Saints at home this Thursday night. This will be a tough divisional battle for the Panthers that could expose their weak secondary even more.
3. The Patriots
Tom Brady and his band of Patriots could not get it done on Sunday night at home vs the Seahawks. Richard Sherman and the defense of the Seahawks came into Gillette Stadium and shut down Tom Brady and his powerful offense. Brady did not throw for one touchdown the entire night and this left fantasy owners everywhere mad. But the Patriots play the 49ers this week, so that’s a positive for the Patriots to look forward to.
