NFL Winners and Losers
Week 9
Winners
1. Dak Prescott/The Cowboys
What a week for the young Cowboy… Am I right? Dak led his team to a 35-10 victory over America’s real favorite team, the Browns. In this trampling of the Browns, Prescott was 21 for 27, had 247 yards, and threw 3 touchdowns. His ability to consistently throw for 200+ yards and his ability to win and keep the Cowboys at the top of the NFC East, has him truly fighting for the starting position when Tony Romo makes his comeback. When Jerry Jones was asked about who would get the starting job when Romo returns he responded by saying that they will play it by ear.
2. Jimmy Graham
Monday night football was full of surprises, including Jimmy Graham’s huge game where he was 8 for 8 on targets, averaged 12.9 per reception, had 103 yards receiving, and had 2 touchdowns. His performance was overshadowed by much controversy, but there is one thing in that game that was undisputable… Jimmy Graham went off.
3. Melvin Gordon
Well one of the seasons best running backs is back at it again. Gordon has had over 300 rushing yards in his past two starts. His match up against the Titans in week 9 proved to be too easy for this ex-Wisconsin running back. Gordon had 196 yards rushing plus one rushing touchdown and he also had over 60 yards receiving. This in return led to 30+ fantasy points, which is pretty solid.
Losers
1. The Browns… Shocker There
Well it is no surprise to anyone that the Browns are on the losers’ side. 9 straight loses and a probable loss against the Ravens on Thursday. Cody Kessler will start at QB on Thursday, but honestly who knows what will happen… it’s the Browns. With the Browns only having one major injury (CB Jamar Taylor) they have no excuse for sucking so bad.
2. Todd Gurley
Perhaps the biggest fantasy let down in the history of fantasy football, has not broken 100 yards all season, only has three touchdowns, and has every fantasy owner asking, “Why did I pick him in the first round…?” While yes there is still time for him to make up for lost time, the Ram’s lackadaisical offensive line is not making it any more believable.
3. The Refs… Once again.
Helmet to helmet, offsides, roughing the kicker, and pretty much every other penalty in the book was missed at some point in week 9. The most wide seen incident took place in the Monday Night game between the Seahawks and the Bills when Richard Sherman took off to block a field goal and in the process was offside (which was called). But then, he proceeded to run full speed at the kicker and tackle him while “touching the ball.” No flag was thrown for unnecessary roughness because the refs were obviously either blind or dumb. The NFL has got to get this referee situation under control or else their viewing numbers will continue to drop and players will continue to no longer have fun L.
