NFL Winners and Losers From Week 8
By Cole Bensch
Winners
1. Robert Paxton Gronkowski
Well, Gronk now has 69 touchdowns… so he has got that going for him. Gronk had 5 receptions for 109 yards in Sunday’s beat down on the Bills. This steadily keeps him at the number one tight-end player in the NFL.
2. Derek Carr
Derek Carr threw for 519 yards and was 40/59 in Oakland’s win over Jameis Winston’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. To put this in perspective, Jameis had 180 yards and went 16/32 on Sunday. This has fantasy owners everywhere wondering how they can trade for Carr.
3. Tom Brady
Yes, this is the only time in the history of Tom’s career that he is behind Derek Carr. Brady has had a wild start to his first 4 games of the year, throwing for 1,319 yards and 12 touchdowns. This just makes everyone wonder… “I wonder how many yards he would have if he wouldn’t have deflated those balls…?” Tom has let the hair flow and his cannon of an arm work his way into this week’s top 3.
Losers
1. Spencer Ware
Spencer Ware had 7 rushing attempts for just 19 yards before taking a shot to the head and leaving the game with a concussion. Ware who has averaged just over 10 points per game is questionable for this week’s game vs the Jaguars.
2. The Carolina Panthers
Yes, I know they won. But, they are still 2-5 and 4th in the NFL South. Cam is taking shots to the head and Kelvin Benjamin has not been the threat everyone thought he would be. This is leaving Panthers fans with no choice but to reach out to their lone hope…. Jake Delhomme.
3. The Refs
The refs got ripped into on multiple occasions because of their lack of no calls and inconsistency when they do throw that little yellow flag. Josh Norman had 4 illegal use of the hands penalties and one pass interference in the Redskins tie with the Bengals. Norman went on a soccer player rant in London after the game, leaving NFL fans everywhere wondering one thing… “Who is official 88.”
