Rushing the Field from a Clemson Fan's Perspective

Clemson

Our freedom is under attack. No I'm not talking about our freedom of speech or our religious freedom or ISIS. No this is far more serious. I'm of course talking about perhaps the greatest freedom of all: the freedom to gather at the paw after the game. Hopefully this article will save some "experts" some embarrassment in the future. It seems like every time Clemson eeks out a victory against an inferior opponent people take offense to the fans storming the field. Twitter "experts" rush to deliver snarky tweets about acting like you've been there before or some other nonsense like that. If these "experts" ever decided to do their research before they popped off a tweet they would know that Clemson has been gathering at the paw after every win for many years no matter who they beat. The only thing funnier than the "experts" ignorant tweets is the 0.5 seconds it takes for #ClemsonTwitter to go after these people to set them straight. I personally have only stormed the field three times: 2014 against Louisville; 2015 against FSU; and 2016 once again against Louisville. All three times were exciting and will stay with me for life. Think about how good we have it. SEC teams aren't allowed to storm the field because their schools have to pay a fine. The average SEC ticket last year cost $60.86 according to SECcountry.com. That's a lot of money obviously for four hours of entertainment, but most fans would say it's worth it because the talent is so great and the games are so exciting. Those fans still don't get what we get though. The average cost of a Clemson ticket in 2015 was $115.27 according to realclearsports.com. This seems expensive, but it was largely skewed by the Notre Dame and Florida state games which could be as much as four times as much as a regular ticket. Also, the team went undefeated at home and were undefeated up to the national championship so that obviously increases the value of seeing them play in person. But can you put a price on meeting one of your idols down on the field after a huge game. I mean if you take the time to notice we very well could be in the "Golden Era" of Clemson football, it's an amazing privilege that we can go down after every game and interact with our favorite players. Lets take an example say there's a little blue eyed boy named Johnnie. Johnnie's family doesn't have great resources, but for his birthday they were able to get him decent tickets against a dinky team like Wake Forest. Johnnie has the time of his life and after the game gets to go down on the field where he bumps into future NFL players and get his picture taken with them and gets to interact personally with them. How cool is that?! And people want us to stop doing that to act like we've been there before?! Well I say we have been there and we're going to keep doing what we feel like because the Clemson way is the best way. I honestly think that Brett McMurphy, an ESPN personality who actually knows what he's talking about, summed it up best. "Clemson storms the field after every home game. If you don't like it, then beat them".
